About the event

MTFI's second fully online Spring Seminar is taking place on May 7th, 2022! This year, we are excited to be bringing you talks from two incredible keynote speakers: Dr. Amy Clements-Cortes and Dr. Vinoo Alluri.

We're even more excited that, for the first time in MTFI history, we are inviting participants to give speed presentations about themselves and their own work! Presentations can be about any MTFI-related topic, for example a current or recent music-related research project, a clinical case report, a brief overview of your work as a music therapist or music therapy student, or even an overview of a topic in which you are currently very interested but have not yet had the chance to actively explore. Depending on the final version of our schedule, participants who sign up to present will have between 2 and 5 minutes to share their work. You can use 1-2 powerpoint slides, a PDF, or just talk! After the speed presentation session, we will have time to divide into breakout rooms organized by broad topic, so further discuss and share and make new friends. Participants who give a speed presentation will also get at 5€ discount on their registration fee!

Topic may include:

Music and emotion

Music and movement

Music and aging

Music and technology

Music and children/development

Music and rehabilitation

And more!

Please register by April 30th to give a speed presentation

Registration is just 15€/(10€ with presentation), and you will also become an official MTFI member for the year, which includs access to our growing video archives of past MTFI events via our website (www.musictherapyfriendship.com). We have introduced low membership and registration fees this year after becoming an officially registered non-profit in Finland, as part of our continued efforts to expand and develop MTFI for the future. We have big dreams of full, face-to-face conferences, workshops, and even research grant and scholarship opportunities, but we will always aim to provide opportunities for interdisciplinary knowledge-sharing and friendship-building for no or little cost. We want MTFI to be available to everyone, so if you are currently in a situation where this registration fee is prohibitive, please get in touch with our chairperson: emily.j.carlson@jyu.fi

Thank you for al of your continued interest and support, and we look forward to seeing you on May 7th!
